Cook County’s 2025 Second Installment Property Taxes Due October 1st

News & Updatescranetaxlaw.com

Cook County officials previously announced that the second installment of 2025 property tax bills would be delayed by approximately two months due to ongoing issues associated with the County’s property tax system modernization. The delay follows the implementation of a new countywide property tax system and the additional processing required to generate and finalize second installment bills.

The County has now confirmed that second installment bills are available online and are expected to be mailed by September 1, 2026, with payment due October 1, 2026, read more here. Taxpayers should be aware of the revised schedule when planning for payment, particularly owners and managers of commercial properties who may need additional time to coordinate tax payments, lender escrows, or tenant reimbursements.

Crane & Norcross will continue to monitor developments related to the 2025 second installment and will keep our clients informed of any additional changes that may affect billing or payment deadlines.
